Un gotismo nel lituano: áitvaras “ drago”

Abstract

The author assumes that Lithuanian áitvaras (“dragon”) is a word of Gothic origin. If this thesis were to be accepted, it would corroborate a whole series of Gothic traces in the Baltic region. Furthermore, it would lead to a better understanding of the cultural influence the Goths may have had on the Baltic populations during their presence in the area.
